Colette Farhat is an associate attorney at Cavanaugh & Thickens, LLC, an award-winning South Carolina personal injury and workers’ compensation law firm. Since 2017, the firm has been recognized for its client-focused and results-driven approach and has recovered millions of dollars in compensation for clients across the state.
Colette joined the Cavanaugh & Thickens, LLC team in July of 2025 as the firm’s first injury attorney based full-time in our Charleston office, allowing us to broaden our impact and better serve the lowcountry. She was drawn to our law firm for a few reasons: she had heard wonderful things about the firm’s culture and reputation, enjoyed how small and focused the firm is, and she wanted the opportunity to grow in her career as part of a tight-knit team that treats everyone like family.
“I come from a very diverse cultural background where family and community is very big. I’m Lebanese, so we’re very big on open doors and giving the shirt off our back. So when I decided I wanted to go to law school to help people, it kind of tied in with how I feel about my life and helping family.”
Her journey to becoming an attorney was shaped by life-changing experiences. While in college, Colette had the opportunity to study abroad in South Africa, interning with a local defense attorney. That experience was unexpectedly cut short when her tour bus was hijacked and robbed at gunpoint, forcing her to return to the US and find another way to complete her senior project.
She ended up interning with a judge in Philadelphia, where she observed firsthand all of the parts of the legal system at play. Those experiences solidified her decision to attend law school and pursue a career in advocacy.
Outside of work, Colette enjoys being outdoors, going to the beach or the gym, and spending time with her fiance, his kids, and their dog.
