Attorney Stephen F. Krzyston
Bar Admission: South Carolina
Steve Krzyston is a Partner and Attorney at Cavanaugh & Thickens, LLC, an award-winning personal injury and workers’ compensation firm in South Carolina that has recovered millions of dollars in compensation for victims of car accidents, truck accidents, on-the-job injuries, wrongful death, and other accident cases throughout the state.
Steve joined Cavanaugh & Thickens, LLC in 2019 and since then has achieved numerous awards and accolades – a testament to his hard work and dedication to his clients. Steve was recently named a Top 40 Under 40 Civil Plaintiff Attorney in South Carolina by The National Trial Lawyers, Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch for three years in a row, and more. Steve is also a lifelong member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, a membership limited to attorneys who have won million and multi-million verdicts and settlements for their clients.
Growing up, Steve was greatly inspired by his father, a heart doctor. Watching his dad care for the community and form connections with patients ultimately led Steve to the practice of law. Today, Steve takes great pride in getting to help people and make a meaningful difference in their lives.
Prior to joining Cavanaugh & Thickens, LLC, Steve worked at the Richland County Public Defender’s office where he focused on criminal defense cases. Upon joining C&T, he continued to grow his criminal defense practice, and eventually decided to put his experience and reputation of being an aggressive and capable lawyer to work fighting for people who have been injured. Today, Steve provides representation in select criminal cases, but primarily focuses his practice on personal injury and civil rights matters.
“The best part of being an attorney is sitting down with a client, understanding their unique situation, and untangling the complexities of their case. No two cases are the same, and each requires a tailored approach to find the best path forward. When we meet clients, they’re often facing one of the worst days of their lives, whether it’s a life-altering injury, a legal battle, or an uncertain future. Being able to provide clarity and a plan for them to regain their confidence and independence is what brings me the most satisfaction.”
Steve is originally from Orangeburg, South Carolina. He attended the Trinity-Pawling School for Boys in Pawling, New York, then went to the College of Charleston for his undergraduate studies ultimately earning his J.D. from the Charleston School of Law. Steve is an active member of the South Carolina Bar, Richland County Bar Association, Million Dollar Advocates Forum, South Carolina Association for Justice, and an Associate Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America.
Steve resides in Columbia, South Carolina with his wife, Meredith, and their three kids. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family, hunting, and fishing. He is also an avid fan of Gamecock Football and Basketball programs.
