Attorney Darcy Compton
Bar Admission: South Carolina
Darcy Compton is a Workers Compensation Attorney at Cavanaugh & Thickens, LLC, an award-winning South Carolina personal injury and workers compensation law firm. Since being founded in 2017, the Cavanaugh & Thickens, LLC team has recovered millions of dollars in compensation for victims of accidents, including car, truck, and work accidents.
Darcy joined the team in 2024, marking significant growth of the firm’s workers compensation practice and allowing us to help more injured workers in Columbia, Charleston, and throughout South Carolina. She chose to join the Cavanaugh & Thickens, LLC team because of the firm’s excellent reputation in the community, family atmosphere, and the ample opportunities for growth and professional development. The team’s hard work and dedication to their clients has resulted in numerous awards, including being named The Best Workers’ Compensation Firm in Columbia, SC by FreeTimes for three years in a row.
Darcy decided to pursue a career in law because of her strong interest in state and federal public policies. She knew becoming an attorney would allow her to serve her community by helping people understand the laws that impact them and their specific legal concerns or needs. Prior to joining our law firm, Darcy worked on the defense side of workers’ compensation representing insurance companies. She discovered that it was not fulfilling to her and she wanted to make a difference in the lives of individuals in her state and community. This led Darcy to make the switch to representing injured workers.
“I love speaking with clients, hearing their concerns, and helping them find the right solutions. In workers’ compensation, clients don’t get to choose their doctors, which can be incredibly frustrating. I’ve had my own difficulties navigating the medical system, so I understand how overwhelming it can be. Being able to advocate for people and make sure they feel heard and supported, that’s what makes this work so fulfilling.”
Darcy grew up in Greenwood, SC and now calls Columbia home. She attended the University of South Carolina for both her undergraduate and law degrees. She is an active member of the South Carolina Bar, SC Bar Young Lawyers Division, a RCCASA Volunteer Guardian Ad Litem and the University of South Carolina School of Law Moot Court Bar Alumni Volunteer.
Darcy is passionate about mental health and wellness, being an informed local and state voter, and supporting local business. She is a lifelong Gamecock fan and outside of work enjoys spending time with her fiancé, her two rescue dogs, exploring new restaurants, and walking the riverwalk.
